Western Australian Economic Update: 27th June 2018
Find out the focus for Western Australia and the implications for business operating locally and internationally.
Please join the ASC team for a presentation hosted by Matthew Braysher, Head of Business, Wealth & Consumer, Financial Markets for Westpac WA.
The presentation will cover:
- What is the macro picture for Western Australia, and what does that mean for business in Western Australia?
- What are the big policy changes and how will they affect you and your business?
- What are the implications of the current regulatory environment?
- What will happen if interest rates get ‘out of hand’?
Matthew will discuss the Bank’s current economic outlook for WA and internationally, discussing how the global economy impacts on our current local economy. Breaking down the data to a state level and showing what is driving each state and how Western Australia compares.
Matthew will provide insights for 2018 and beyond, focusing on:
- The dynamics of the Western Australian economy
- Interest rate and foreign exchange
- The competition for the international dollar and
- Discussing the current impact of the world on local markets

About Matthew Braysher
Matt Braysher heads up the financial markets dealing team for Westpac in WA, SA & NT. These teams help Westpac’s customers manage all risks related to interest rates, foreign exchange, and commodities in their businesses. As such he speaks regularly to business leaders and owners about how the current economic environment will likely impact them.
Matt is a WA local, who has had 30 years in the banking and finance industry. While his experience over this time has been primarily in financial markets, Matt has worked in the consumer, business, corporate and institutional banking segments of the market. In addition to leading financial markets teams he has also lead the Corporate Banking teams of an another major Australian bank in WA and SA.
He is well placed to give us insights into the above topics.
